Andy Barber receives 2019 Charleston Builder of the Year award at 31st annual PRISM Awards Gala
Generation Homes’ Owner and Founder Andy Barber was named the 2019 Charleston Builder of the year at the 31st Annual PRISM Awards Gala hosted by the Charleston Home Builders Association’s Sales & Marketing Council. The PRISM awards are the highest awards given for home building in the Charleston market and hundreds of home builders, real estate and marketing industry professionals attend the annual event.
“I am honored to be chosen for this prestigious award,” said Barber. “The Builder of the Year award reflects all the hard work my team and I have put in to creating beautiful homes in the equally beautiful Charleston area. This award also confirms the trust and support received from our tight-knit community here in Charleston.”
The Charleston Builder of the year award is given to a builder who has given back to the industry at a high level, while also running a successful business.
Patrick Arnold, executive officer with the Charleston Home Builders Association says, “Barber is a thoughtful strategic leader who has made many valuable contributions to support the mission of the association. In addition to serving as the President of our local association, he has been on a number of committees and actively advocates for smarter code requirements.”
Created in 1988, the Annual PRISM Awards Gala recognize excellence in various building industries including sales, marketing, construction and promotion of new homes. Taking place at the Charleston Gaillard Center in late 2019, the PRISM Gala saw over 400 attendees and welcomed Host Terry Haas from HGTV’s “Designed to Sell.”
Barber has over 36 years of experience in residential design, home building and real estate in the Charleston area. Since becoming a licensed residential contractor in 1986, Barber earned the Green Building Professional certification and held multiple leadership positions including the 2013 president of the Charleston Home Builders Association and the associates vice president of the Home Builders Association of South Carolina from 2007 to 2010. Most recently, Barber served the Home Builders Association of South Carolina, leading the executive board as president in 2019.
